Back to Dyeing and Blogging again

5 Dec

What have I been up to?  That may or may not be the question! Despite not blogging for way too long doesn’t mean that I have hung up the pots, quite the opposite is true.  I spent the last year happily dyeing with the Tripping Yarn Balls club and will return with them again in the spring of 2015.

This month will see me at my only in person sale this year, the Shopify hosted Makers Market on December 12th and 13th. If you are local come out and say hello!

Here is a little sneak peak of what’s in store there, I have been working on ‘collections’ a lot this year so themes and ideas that go together but are sill colourful and are full of fun

Yarn Colour update!

29 Oct

I spent last weekend at the NYS Sheep and Wool Festival, otherwise known as just Rhinebeck, which I will blog about later.

today is all about colour… a couple of weeks ago I had my first, set up a table and meet buyers and yarnies in person… kinda show. I had a blast! it was so much fun and now I wait in anticipation to see what people create with my yarns.

In preparation for this show I went about creating a whole new series of yarn combinations

see one you like? 🙂 I want to knit with them all…

October 15th….

15 Oct

It’s the middle of October!  How did that happen??

It doesn’t seem that long ago that my friend Valerie asked me if I wanted to have a table at the annual vendor’s night for our local knitting guild, the sale is tonight.  I’m equal parts excited and nervous, but I’m as ready as I can be

Wanna see?

there is a rubbermaid of yarn (lots of new colourways!), there are mini skeins and projects bags. and no, your not seeing things, some of those bags have unicorns on them 🙂

To blog or not to blog…

27 Aug

In the universal question of: to blog or not to blog?

… I have, apparently, come down on the side of not blogging, and this will be corrected. 🙂

The summer months have been busy ones, not that summer is yet over!  But September is peering over the ridge at August.
I’m still dyeing like mad and knitting a number of different things and will write about those another day.

Today I want to tell you about a group of fellow bloggers…

Three of my friends blog over at Knitter’s Rumble, they are running a great knitting battle over there with rules on how points are scored for certain achievements etc
The point is, I owe these three ladies an apology.  A little while back they ran a contest on their blog giving away a goodie donated by each of them well the random number picked was my comment!
See… look at those goodies! not pictured is the hat pattern included in  the prize

Julianna donated the handspun, which I am going to find a pattern for soon
Amy crocheted the sheep measuring tape cover which lives at home with me as I would hate for him to wander off to greener pastures
And from Emily the pattern for her Granny Slouch hat which is a really great pattern combining both crochet and knitting using no set yarn weight!

….hmmmm….I may have just found that patten for that handspun… 🙂

I want to thank Emily, Julianna and Amy for my goodies and for the inspiration they give me.  You guys are awesome. Thank you!

3…2….1…. Go! Go! Go!

18 May

Please Stand By Yarns is open!!

I’m very excited by all this and have a few details for you…

the serious details

– the skeins are 100 grams of 100% superwash merino (other bases are under consideration)

– approximately 400 yards in each

– dyed with colourfast acid dyes

– $28.00 CND/skein plus shipping (actual shipping cost will be charged )

– payment via PayPal invoice or in person to me

– ordering will be done via my e-mail PleaseStandByYarns (at) gmail.com (please tell me colour, where you live, and any other fun facts you think I need to know!)

the fun details

– each skein is hand-dyed individually upon order, so it may take up to a week prior to mailing (if longer you will be contacted by e-mail)

– each skein, once caked, will let you knit your sock 2 at a time (2AAT) from either end without having to split your cake in two.  if you knit a scarf or shawl from your yarn the stripes will mirror each other at the start and at the end of your work.

– If you do NOT want your yarn to mirror please let me know in your e-mail and there will be an extra charge of $5.00 for the skein.

– if you would like a smaller skein  of yarn with the same colours but smaller stripes (like for a child’s foot) or the reverse, a larger skein for a larger foot, drop me a line as all this can be arranged, the price of the yarn will either decrease or increase by $2.00 per 10gr

if you have further questions, don’t hesitate to ask
